Enquiries

Every request for a price, in one list

Your Enquiries page is where jobs arrive. Each account has its own forwarding address, shown at the top of the page. Forward a customer's email to it and the enquiry appears with their name, email and what they wrote. Paste in a phone enquiry by hand. On Crew, a form on your own website can post enquiries in. Each one has a "Quote this" button.

Free costs no money: you agree to receive marketing from Talk of the Trade and its partners by email and phone, and can unsubscribe any time. What that means

The Enquiries page: the account's forwarding address, enq-harbourline@in.talkofthetrade.com.au, and 3 example enquiries, the newest with a "Quote this" button.

Forwarding emails

The address looks like enq-yourcode@in.talkofthetrade.com.au and is printed on your Enquiries page. Forward any email to it from any mail app. The enquiry keeps the sender's name and address, the subject line and the body. Forwarding counts as one enquiry against your monthly limit.

Adding one by hand

Open Add an enquiry by hand. Customer name, email, phone and What they asked for. Only the last is required. Press Save enquiry. Use it for jobs that came by phone, text or a knock on the door, so the quote starts with the right details filled in.

The form on your own website (Crew)

On the Crew plan, a small form on your website can send enquiries straight to your Enquiries page: name, email, phone and message. It posts to Quote Desk with your account code, the same code that is in your enquiry address. It has a hidden field that catches most bots and a limit on how many posts one address can make in an hour. Email hello@talkofthetrade.com.au and we will send you the form code for your site.

From enquiry to quote

Each enquiry card shows the first part of the message and a Quote this button. Press it and New quote opens with the enquiry quoted above the form and the customer's name and email already in. Once a quote exists, the card shows its status instead: draft, sent, accepted, declined.

  • Enquiries show newest first
  • An enquiry from a form or forwarded email keeps the sender's details
  • The quote and the enquiry stay linked

Questions about the enquiries

How many enquiries can I take?

Free takes 20 a month. Starter and Crew are unlimited. A forwarded email, a pasted enquiry and a website form post each count as one.

Can the website form go on any site?

It is a plain HTML form that posts to Quote Desk, so it works on any site where you or your web person can add a form. It is only switched on for Crew accounts; on other plans the post is refused.

What if someone spams the form?

A hidden field swallows most automatic submissions, and one internet address can post at most sixty times an hour. Anything past that is still counted against your plan's enquiries, so on Crew, where enquiries are unlimited, nothing is turned away.

Send the next one from the ute.

Free is five quotes a month, paid for by a marketing consent instead of a card. Past that, Starter is $39 a month. Either way the set-up is typing in your price list.
